Founder’s Story
Vanessa Riley began her career as a Licensed Practical Nurse, advanced to Family Nurse Practitioner, and later became the CEO of a healthcare AI company. Along this journey, she witnessed both the power of nursing and the transformative potential of artificial intelligence in healthcare.
Her experiences revealed a critical need: while AI is rapidly shaping the future of healthcare, nurses, the largest and most trusted sector of the workforce, were often missing from the table. Vanessa recognized that bridging nursing and AI was not just an opportunity but a responsibility.
This vision led her to establish the Global Nursing AI Alliance™ , where she now serves as Founder and President. The Alliance was founded to bring together nurses, technologists, innovators, and partners worldwide—uniting them to lead, educate, research, and collaborate in shaping the future of healthcare technology. Vanessa’s story is more than one of personal advancement. It is an invitation. An invitation for nurses to step into leadership roles in AI, for members to join a growing global movement, and for donors and partners to invest in a future where nursing expertise drives innovation.

As the Division Director of Epidemiology and Infectious Disease, I am committed to advancing the role of nursing in the responsible and innovative use of AI to prevent, monitor, and manage infectious diseases. Our division strives to provide nurses with the knowledge, tools, and collaborative opportunities to enhance patient care, strengthen public health preparedness, and drive evidence-based solutions. I am excited to work alongside a dedicated team of professionals to shape the future of healthcare through AI and nursing leadership.
As Director of Cybersecurity & Digital Safety, I lead initiatives that empower organizations and communities to strengthen their digital resilience and navigate the evolving challenges of technology. With over 20 years of teaching experience in mathematics and information systems at the college level, I bring both academic depth and practical expertise to advancing GNAA’s mission of equipping leaders and institutions with the knowledge and tools needed for digital trust and safety.
As Chief Medical Advisor, I am committed to advancing the responsible integration of artificial intelligence into nursing practice and healthcare delivery. Our mission is clear: to ensure that every nurse, regardless of geography or specialty, has access to AI-driven innovations that enhance patient outcomes, strengthen workforce resilience, and close gaps in global health.
